What the Powder Coating Area Calculator does

This tool estimates how much surface you are coating and how much powder it takes. Choose a flat panel, an open box or a custom area, enter the size and the number of parts, and it returns the total paint area, the powder needed and, with a price per kilo, the coating cost. It is built for fabricators and finishers quoting powder-coat work on panels and enclosures.

Frequently asked questions

How is the coating surface area calculated?
For a flat panel it is both faces, 2 × length × width. For an open box it is the base and four walls counted inside and out, 2·L·W + 4·(L+W)·H. Or enter a custom area directly. The total is multiplied by the number of parts.
How much powder will I need?
Powder needed = total area ÷ coverage. Coverage depends on film thickness and material, typically around 8 to 12 m² per kilogram; the tool defaults to 10 and you can change it. Add a price per kilogram to estimate the coating cost.
Does it include overspray and waste?
No, it gives the theoretical applied area. Real powder use is higher because of overspray and reclaim losses, so add a margin (often 20 to 40 percent) on top, or lower the coverage figure to account for it.
Can I use it for shapes other than panels and boxes?
Yes, pick Custom area and enter the surface area per part in square metres from your drawing or CAD model. The tool then handles the powder and cost for your quantity.
