Reading the results
What is X% of Y is the classic “what is 25% of 200” question (answer: 50). X is what % of Y flips it around to tell you what slice one number is of another, so 25 of 200 is 12.5%. Percentage change measures growth or drop between two figures and labels it clearly: 25 to 200 is a 700% increase, while 200 to 25 is an 87.5% decrease. Add or subtract % takes a value up or down by a percentage, so 25 with 200% added becomes 75.
Tips
Direction matters for percentage change: the From value is the starting point and the To value is where you end up, so an increase and a decrease are labelled for you rather than shown as a bare minus sign.
