What the Sheet Yield Calculator does

This tool tells you how many parts you can cut from a sheet and how much of the sheet you actually use. Enter the sheet size, the part size and an optional gap, and it returns the pieces per sheet, the material usage, and, if you enter a quantity, how many sheets the job needs. It is built for fabricators and estimators quoting blanks, panels and brackets.

It tries the part both ways round and keeps the better layout, so you get a realistic grid yield in a second. Everything runs in your browser.

How to use it

Frequently asked questions

How does the sheet yield calculator work?
It lays the part out on the sheet as a simple grid in both orientations (as-is and rotated 90 degrees), counts how many fit each way with your gap, and reports the better result. Material usage is the area of all parts divided by the sheet area.
Does it account for rotation and gaps?
Yes. It tests the part both ways and keeps the higher count, and you can set a gap between parts (for kerf, clamping or scrap edge). The gap is applied between neighbouring parts in both directions.
How accurate is it versus real nesting software?
This is a straight grid layout, so it is exact for rectangular blanks placed in rows and columns. True nesting software can pack irregular shapes or mix orientations to do better, so treat this as a quick, conservative quoting figure.
Can it tell me how many sheets I need?
Yes. Enter the number of parts you need and it returns how many sheets that takes and how many spare parts you get on the last sheet.
